I swear officer, that is all I know...

For about a week we’ve been getting thunderstorms starting about 9 or 10 at night and since we haven’t turned on the A/C unit yet, we sleep with the windows open to the sound of thunder, rain, wind and all the other ‘night noises’. I seem to have some insomnia lately too so my sleep is not sleep, but rather napping for a couple hours at a time. This is all irrelevant….
On Tuesday night, I’d just fallen asleep and was in the stage of ‘did I just hear something’ when KABOOOM!!! I hear something I was sure was similar to the sound of a gunshot. Tyler of course hears nothing. I get up and look out the window to see a small sedan drive down the road. I go back to bed and hear another car drive down the road about 3 minutes later. In my half-awake state I lay there and listen for the sounds of sirens or something. When I hear nothing, I then start thinking, “somebody has been shot in the Church parking lot across the street and has been left for dead” Then I start thinking, “what if they are still alive but wounded and they are going to drag themselves to our doorstep” So in my panic, I go to the front door and make sure it is tightly locked. Not that I wouldn’t want to help somebody who is wounded but by now its about 1:00 a.m…Remember, I am freaking myself out this whole time while Tyler is sleeping soundly. By the next morning I open the garage and make sure there isn’t a body lying on our lawn and quickly peek in the church parking lot to see if I can see anything. Nothing…..
About 12:00 the next afternoon Tyler calls me and asks “did you hear something last night?” UH, YES!!! I knew I wasn’t crazy!! Seems that the community mailbox in front of our house got blown up! I went home for lunch a little later to this sight:

Ed, our mailman had to pry the doors open and get all the mail out to deliver to the neighbors. While he huffed and puffed, another guy in a van from the Postal Service just stood there, Chubbuck City Police just stood there, and then another lady from who knows where just stood there and made this comment to me “um, maybe next time you could call the cops instead of just try to wake up your husband who goes back to sleep” I said, “you know, I wasn’t sure what is was, thunder, a car back-firing, or if it was just in my sleep” I proceeded to turn around and walk inside. I’m pretty sure Chubbuck City couldn’t have gotten there in time to see the vandals. I barely got a glimpse of the car in the time it took me to get out of bed and walk 10 feet to the window. And, remember, its Chubbuck, ‘nough said.

About 10 minutes later another Postal Service truck shows up, two men get out and unscrew the bolts and haul it away. This is what we get in front of our house now…GETTO. Thanks a lot MAILBOX – BLOWER-UPPERS.

It keeps going and going...

Don't get your hopes up, this post is nothing exciting. Just changing my background to something generic so that I don't feel bad about myself when I haven't posted anything and my background is still for Christmas or the previous holiday.
It's still 'life as we know it' around here. If you need to know what that entails, please read previous post. Tyler is laying tile in Burley during the week. I work, workout, eat, read, sleep. Then we start again the next day. Tyler called last night and says "I can't remember the last time I was this sore from working hard. Maybe since we painted the Northgate Inn (he and his brother hand-painted a 3 story motel a year back), or maybe it was when we pulled out and replaced those 1970 Olive Green Jacuzzi tubs in Lava a couple months ago...or maybe when we...." We finally came to the conclusion that he's been sore since the day he decided to work for himself. I am proud to have a husband that actually "works" for himself though. There is very little down time with him. What a stud. We'll get all these projects done now while he's still young and hopefully by the time the updates are 'out of date' we'll have sold or moved on to bigger and better. Or will just be too old and will hire the work out! Until then...we'll keep on keepin' on.

Life as we know it...

The holidays have come and gone and we're back to reality. My posts of family and friends and good holiday cheer have ended for now. It's back to the reality of work, eat, sleep..repeat. I decided to post what we really do on a daily basis..Ok, not even me...what Tyler does on a daily basis. I have no drama in my life. Same routine everyday. Below are the projects Tyler gets to tackle for the next year. 4 of the 5 motels are hours away so he spends the week there and we finally get to see each other on the weekends. Well sweety, good thing we've got eternity to be with each other!

Don't worry, the bedspreads have already been replaced. The next step is tiling over that lovely orange linoleum in the bathrooms. We are also putting flat screen TV's in the rooms, thanks Costco! Thanks Pocatello for finally getting a Costco!! Why do I live here again? It's pretty depressing when the "big store" comes to town and the whole city celebrates.

Luckily the floors in Lava weren't so bad. Too bad you can't see the sinks so well, they voluntarily fall off the wall while guests are in there! Nice! We've had this motel for about year and have had our hands full!
Yea!! New mattresses!!
Yes, this is my life. Being excited about tile, sinks, bedspreads and mattresses. Also, we love getting the looks in Costco or any store when we buy 2 pallets of Laundry soap or Bleach. Tyler tells people, "we just really like to be clean" or 18 TV's.."one for each room". It's always a good time! Tyler loves his job and I love that he is self-employed. He is happy, I am happy and we love life...our life as we know it!

Christmas!

This is the gift that Tyler gave me...nice wrapping! What could it be?! YEA!! My picture that I've wanted!! Tyler got an X-Box 360, I'd say we were even!
Christmas at my parents house in our Red and Green PJ's.

We were also able to go to Temple Square with the adults after our dinner at Rodizio's (yum, yum!)

We had such a good time in Utah for Christmas. With Tyler's parents living down there now we are able to see both families. Now the work begins in taking down all the Christmas decorations and the tree. Happy New Year, we'll see what this year brings!

AND THE WINNER IS....

Christmas was great for us this year. We got to spend it with my family in Utah for the first time in 3 years. Its a tradition for my family to do Ginger Bread Houses a couple weeks before and then Tyler and I judge them when we get to Utah. Here are the houses and awards. The "siding" is made out of gum split in two and pasted on. Alot of time went into all these.
This one was supposed to be a "Tree-Ginger Bread House." The tree part ended up breaking. Good 'ole Santa in the chimney or Rupunzel Santa...not quite sure but it sure turned out cute.

"Best use of candy" thanks to my 5 year old nephew and lots of frosting and tons of space to put whatever you want on it.

Best design for the Landscaping and stone work on the house~

Lazer Taggin' Ladies!

For one last night before Rene ("Hollywooood") moved to Texas :0( We had a girls night out and played Lazer Tag. We played 4 games; 2 in teams and 2, "each man for himself" I'd like to extend a 'thank you' to my team, G.I. (Angela), Stealth (Heidi), AmazonQueen (Tiffany) for being so productive in helping me defend our homebase. However, with this strategy, we got NO points! Ok, some points but lost to the other team Joe (Amy), Flash(Traci) Bambi (Lindsey) Goose (Nicole) Hollywood (Rene) 31,000 to 17,000! Ouch!! For the 2nd team round, we finally got the hang of it and only came in about 2,000 under the other team. For the last 2 games, it was all out war. With my gun skills (thanks Tyler) I was able to be the HIGH SCORE for the last and final match! Yipee!! We will miss you Rene! Have fun in the sun in Texas!
