37 WEEKS 6 DAYS ... MIRACLE

April 22 10:00 am:
"Doctor, please, please, please induce me!" "Well" he says, "there is no medical reason to do so; babies are healthy, you are healthy and there is advantages to going past 38 weeks to 39." Really, with twins...I don't think my tummy can stretch any more and my toes are about ready to pop off my feet. We've already passed the "36 weeks is a reasonable time for twins" stage.
Lexi was baby A and was head down - ready to pave the way but Jack had always been head up until about 3 days prior when I wasn't sure what I was feeling in my ribs but it sure wasn't a head. The Dr. did a quick ultrasound and Jack had turned sideways, halfway to head down.
After lunch the Dr. and his partner decided it wasn't "unreasonable" to have me induced. The Labor and Deliver floor was full so I was put on a waiting list.
11:30 pm: Ring...Ring.."this is L&D, would you still like to be induced tonight?" YES!!, I can be there in 10 minutes.
April 23 12:30 am
We finally got admitted and got my Pitocin started. Tried to sleep and finally about 6:00 am couldn't take the serious back labor and asked for my Epideral, that was the wierdest sensation I've ever had!
12:00 pm: "You are at a 10" Then the nervousness really sets in, this is real! They wheeled me to the Operating Room in case Jack had to be delivered C-section. Ask me how thrilled I was to think of the possibility of delivering one baby as nature intended and the other C-section. Whatever was needed at this point.
1:00 pm : Lexi's head was almost all the way out when I hear "We've lost the boys heartbeat, we have to get her out NOW and find him again." In one 10 second sentence I hear the Dr. tell me they are going to be using a vaccuum to help get her out and what the risks are. I didn't care what it took so I pushed like the dickins - it was all she needed and she was out. Jack was there all along, just slipped underneath her when he realized he had double the space. The next part was only what a true professional could do. The Dr. reached is gorilla sized hands up in me felt around, (another very odd feeling) and next thing we know there are two legs, a bumb, two shoulders and a head coming out of me. NO C-SECTION! yea!!
Lexi Victor 6 lb 8 oz
Jack Tyler Victor 5 lb 14 oz

They say they get cuter with time...I don't know about that. These blotchy, red, squished head, swollen faces are pretty dang cute....NOT! Who are these kids?

Here are the two munchins some time later in the hospital:
